It serves as an ideal source of inexpensive but nutritious vegetable protein (protein content up to 50%, oil up to 10%). When flax plant concentrate interacts with warm water, the cake swells and forms a mucus consisting of pectin substances: this property makes it valuable in dietary terms.
The value of flaxseed meal is primarily due to the unique characteristics of the proteins that make up its composition. The amino acid composition and biochemical value of the protein, in turn, surpasses the proteins of cereals in terms of the content of lysine, methionine, cystine and tryptophan. Thus, in terms of digestible protein, flaxseed meal is 2.7 times superior to wheat, 5 times in fat content, 4.2 times in calcium, and 5 times in iron. And only 100 grams of cake contains half of the daily requirement of cattle for vitamins B and E.
